Wahoo RunFit App Reviews

Not a good running app

Ive used this on a few runs and its not very reliable when paired with the Apple Watch. The screen goes blank on the app when you bring it up so I have to rely on feedback from the watch. Ending a workout from the watch does not truly end the workout. Very odd. I know I ended it but then found that it was still running on the phone. Because the app on the phone was blank, I couldnt verify. Threw off my average pace metrics for the run. Very frustrating after a good run but not have reliable data. Relying on the watch for pace is not useful at all. The pace shows -- with the distance. If I want to know the elapsed time on the run, I have to scroll through screens. Even the native run app has all the current pace, time elapsed and distance in one screen view. The Wahoo Fitness run app allows me to edit my workout and truncate the part that is irrelevant like when the app fails to stop the workout. The WF app does not have Apple Watch pairing so I dont use that. Wahoo, can you merge the run tracking capabilities of Wahoo Fitness into this app? I just want to be able to reliably start and end my workouts and track my runs. I bought the Wahoo TRACKR X mainly to track my ground contact and stability. Those are viewable in WF but I dont see it in this app. The announcement tweaks are few in this app compared to WF. At least I can adjust per minute or per mile and the pace. This app doesnt give me any relevant audio feedback of current pace, time elapsed and distance. One solid running app is all I need. I really wish that Wahoo can design it with the Apple Watch in mind. There is so much potential here.

Please dont make Audio Updates the default

I like using this app (version 1.2.0) with my Tickr Run. But I dont want voice updates during my program. Even when I switch off Audio Announcements in the general Settings, when I start a Cardio program, Audio Updates is switched on by default, and I get voice updates every 10 minutes. I dont want this, and I have to switch it off every exercise session--that is annoying. Please fix this.

Nice and easy

Nice app. My only suggestion is to be able to edit workout.

Crashes on Open, even after restart.

Os 7.1.1 iPhone 4s (which is why I aint bumping up to 8 or 9!)

HR Monitor and Run tracker is so helpful

For everything I do, this app is perfect. Basic running, walking, cardio, boxing, rowing, it keeps track of everything I need. It is easy to use, pretty nicely designed, and it syncs fast. Great app overall!

I want to like this app but...

I have used the Wahoo Fitness app for over a year now with a lot of success but it is more geared for cycling. So I was really excited for the Runfit app that would be more run oriented. I do most of my weekly runs on a treadmill, but I do a long run outdoors on the weekend. All runs are done with a Wahoo Run HRM. I also have started using the 7 minute Ab workout that is included in the app once a week before my run. I will start with the good. Features- this app allows you to export the data pretty much every where. So you can sync it with MyFitnessPal, Runkeeper, MapMyRun, Strava, etc... No problems with this. The 7 minute workouts seem to work great. The only problem I have with them is some times it will start to randomly count reps even when I am laying still or in plank. Note I always select to turn off rep counting but it counts anyway. This is annoying but most of the time I find it funny. Indoor running or walking still great. This feature is an improvement over the Wahoo Fitness app as it will also do pace while walking. Indoor pacing only available with the Wahoo Run/X. The pacing seems to be very accurate on the Wahoo Fitness app it would normally be off by a quarter to a half a mile after a 5 mile run. This app is only off at most a quarter so far. The only problems I have had during my runs is sometimes I will accidentally double tap the HRM and music will start playing despite there not being any music controls in the app. Also even with the audio announcements turned off it still gives you an audio run report at the end of the run. If I was giving a review on just the above it would be 4 stars. They have minor bugs but for those functions the app is still great. Now the ugly. I have had nothing but problems with the outdoor running feature. Today I ran 12.7 miles and it crashed after 0.16 miles. I would have noticed this on the Wahoo App because it syncs with my Casio Bluetooth watch. Unfortunately this app does not support said watch. So when I run with my phone in my race belt I do not have any way to get an update from the phone without pulling it out which is a pain. I would like to say that this crash was the first but it was not. Of the 10 or so outdoor runs I have done it has crashed on over half of them which I believe is unacceptable.

I really want this app to work

I’m a big supporter of Wahoo Fitness. The Kickr Power Trainer has transformed my indoor workouts. However, Wahoo seems to be terrible in the area of app development. Lately I cannot use the regular Wahoo Fitness app because it just stops tracking after a few minutes, so I was really excited to see this new app with Apple Watch integration. I was only able to get it to work once though. Now the watch app no longer sees my Tickr heart monitor, even though the phone app does. If I try to just use the phone app instead, same problem as the other Wahoo Fitness app. It just stops recording my workout after a few minutes. I have an iPhone 6 and Apple watch which are up to date and I have location services set to always for these apps. Too bad they don’t work. I’d like to get the most out of my Wahoo equipment.

Please fix ASAP

This review is the AW and TickrX w iPhone 6 on iOS 9.1. When I activate the app through the watch, the apple will crash immediately or it will crash in the middle of a 7 minute work. Prior to the last update, this app was working. Please update and patch to fix the app from crashing or opening up.

Worth the money

Its so much more accurate than using the monitor in the gym equipment! Great motivator if you are counting calories and keeps you in that orange zone! I wont even feel right working out without it any more!

Perfect for simple heart rate

This app paired with the $50 tickr is perfect for simple workout heart rate monitoring. Quite accurate and I like the way it does the heart rate zones in the app as well as the editing capability there. Makes it really easy to do cardio and stay in the right zone -- not too easy not too hard. Interesting to use during strength training as well to see how my heart responds to different moves. Highly recommend.

The best app specially when paired to tickr HR

I just wish Wahoo will make wrist-based HR.

Exactly what I was looking for!

Pair this with a Tickr X and you have an amazing gym buddy. Love the cadence feature while spinning. Numbers were identical to the spin bike!!

Great App for Apple Watch

I was looking for something that I could use other than the workout app already installed on my Apple Watch and this is it. It works with my Wahoo Heart Rate monitor that I bought 2/3 years ago. I think its more accurate than the heart rate on my phone. Im only giving it 4 starts because if I start it on my phone it wont stay open on my watch. Great app.

Straight Forward

Useful app. It does what it promises. Would be better if it worked with Pebble watch. Simple start-stop function + time & heart rate displays would be perfect.

Why dont you have outdoor cycling in THIS Ao?

Would be the perfect Ap if there were outdoor cycling. Time to consolidate this one with the other one and dont screw anything up! If you can accomplish that, you will have the perfect solution. The TICKRX is fabulous! UPDATE CHANGE TO 1 star The Ap is not counting calories in the cardio mode when I select one of the specific exercises, such as elliptical or spin class. It used to always calculate calories and now it doesnt. Please fix this!!!! Without this function, its a PITA and I might as well use a different Ap! Also I can confirm that the Ap crashes for no apparent reason! Customer support nonexistent; so far I havent lost data but Im worried!

Good app needs work-consistent crashing

Heart rate monitor works v well. Better than Apple Watch!! But there is now a Fail bug: app crashes when saving a workout and only fix is to reboot phone! FAIL Improvements that would make this app a killer: 1. Add music function - tie into playlists 2. Add more gym workout options, like circuit training, TRX, row...

FAIL - crash reproducibly

A fitness app needs to do something useful, do it reliably, do it with minimal user manipulation, and above all run while interfering minimally with the user’s workout. Unfortunately while this app might do something useful, it is a FAIL on all 3 other counts. This app is no longer reliable, it constantly requires user input to get it to work properly, and interferes with my workouts. Today for example after starting on a run, the app crashed. From experience the only recovery would be to stop my run, reboot the phone, wait over one minute, and then relaunch the app to see if if did not crash the second time. This is ridiculous, and unacceptable. This app is going to the trash until you fix the crashes. And I’m especially upset that I spent $100 for the WahooX heart monitor and strap to count strides and heart rate, and now it sits useless. FAIL

Loving it!

Just got my tickrx and am impressed with the functionality of this device

Consistently crashes

Im firmly entrenched in the Wahoo ecosystem and I am a big fan of their hardware. Unfortunately, this app fails miserably. It doesnt even do the basics of tracking my outdoor runs well--it consistently crashes 1 minute into my run. I have tried to calibrate my runs on treadmill. 80% through the calibration test: crash. Its a sad statement when other apps like Runkeeper work better with your equipment than your own app.

Loses data and crashes

If you exit to change music or take a picture, your data is lost. So disappointing.
